Our Story
Over 25 Years of Serving the Lighting Community
Ingen Software, Inc. was incorporated in 2000 as Independent Software Training and Design (ISTAD) in Cabot, Arkansas. ISTADs initial focus was creating custom software, but soon began developing software for the lighting industry. OASIS Sales Software was created shortly thereafter.
The ISTAD name was changed to the shorter Ingen (for ingenious) Software, Inc. in 2001. OASIS has grown from a simple agent application into multiple versions for agents, distributors, and manufacturers. Ingen is a privately held company that prizes its independence.
The lighting industry is a very tight-knit community. Word began to spread across agencies about OASIS, how unique and specific the software was to the industry, and our customer base continued to grow.
Brian Howard (owner) and our only salesperson at the time, Tony Moss, spent a lot of hours on the road traveling to meet with customers, immersed themselves in their workflow and needs, and ultimately got them onboarded to OASIS. As a result, we were able to garner invaluable feedback about the industry, build key relationships and continue to evolve the software solution to meet a breadth of needs. OASIS Sales Software continued to expand and our software is used internationally to support lighting professionals outside of the United States.
The rise of remote workers began to shift around 2020 - largely due to the COVID 19 epidemic. This created a unique challenge for our customers and we began working on a web-based version of OASIS to continue to meet our customer needs. OASIS Online continues to develop and provide unique features that keep up-to-speed with the face paced, data driven world we live in. The intricacies and nuances that make OASIS the leading software for the lighting industry are the chief reason the development of our online platform is such a detailed and extensive process. We will continue to strive for excellence across all of our software platforms.
OASIS is predominantly the software of choice throughout the lighting industry for many reasons but we like to credit our loyal customers for the bulk of our success. They have opened doors and pulled back the curtain on their daily operations allowing us to fill in the gaps and design solutions to meet their needs. OASIS has continued to evolve and transform company processes for decades.
2024 was a big year for Ingen Software! We launched our latest product, folio, which provides a massive data hub for OASIS users to access the information they need fast - and within their OASIS database. We all can get lost in the weeds of distraction when hoping between software and websites to pull the information we need to one place - folio does that for you. This new product continues to evolve and become a customer favorite and we are eager to see how folio continues to evolve!
We also acquired SpecSeek in late 2024! SpecSeek is a powerful online tool designed to help sales teams and their customers build lighting specifications. This innovative solution maximizes their customer experience and project workflow through a sleek, intuitive platform that transforms a static line card into a dynamic product selector. We love the way SpecSeek is currently serving our customers and are excited to see the plans we have to enhance this product unfold!
